Dear FGSD Families,
This week, I have been out visiting schools and have loved seeing students back in the classroom. I have enjoyed seeing teachers getting their students back into the mode of learning, exploring and being with their classmates. After two weeks of school you can still feel the excitement from our students and staff.
With school back in person and having been virtual for so many months, we are taking the opportunity to reacquaint our students with classroom and school rules. As parents, your influence has a great impact on your students. Please continue to reinforce the importance of being respectful to each other and to school staff. Together we can create a school environment that is welcoming and conducive to learning.
COVID continues to be a challenge for us. Here is the link to our data dashboard. The number of positive COVID cases in the district is currently holding fairly steady. Predicting where this pandemic is going is fruitless, but we believe that our layered health protocols are currently working. Thank you to you and your students for your continued efforts to keep our schools safe. Our goal continues to be keeping our schools open. As a reminder, please be sure to follow current protocols by wearing a mask when you visit school campuses for activities and sporting events.

Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month, where we take time to recognize the achievements and contributions of generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. September is National Suicide Prevention Month
Studies indicate that helping someone at risk create a network of resources and individuals for support and safety can help them take positive action and reduce feelings of hopelessness. Forest Grove School District has a district-wide Suicide Prevention Policy and Plan that works to build staff awareness and support student connection across all schools. FGHS Food Pantry
We are excited to report that we are reopening the Forest Grove High School Food Pantry in a new time and location. It will reopen beginning Monday, September 27, 2021 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at our new location by the Basinski Center.

Estimadas familias de FGSD,
Esta semana, estuve visitando escuelas y me encantó ver a los estudiantes en el salón de clases. Me ha gustado ver a los profesores hacer que sus alumnos regresen al modo de aprender, explorar y estar con sus compañeros de clase. Después de dos semanas de clases, todavía puede sentir la emoción de nuestros estudiantes y personal.
Con el regreso de la escuela en persona y habiendo sido virtual durante tantos meses, estamos aprovechando la oportunidad para volver a familiarizar a nuestros estudiantes con las reglas del aula y de la escuela. Septiembre es el Mes Nacional de Prevención del Suicidio
Los estudios indican que ayudar a alguien en riesgo a crear una red de recursos e individuos para apoyo y seguridad puede ayudarlo a tomar medidas positivas y reducir los sentimientos de desesperanza. El Distrito Escolar de Forest Grove tiene una Política y un Plan de Prevención del Suicidio en todo el distrito que trabaja para crear conciencia en el personal y apoyar la conexión de los estudiantes en todas las escuelas. Despensa de alimentos FGHS
Nos complace informar que estamos reabriendo la despensa de alimentos de la escuela secundaria Forest Grove en un nuevo horario y lugar. Reabrirá a partir del lunes 27 de septiembre de 2021 de 4:00 a 5:30 p.m. en nuestra nueva ubicación junto al Basinski Center.
