Dear Echo Shaw Parents and Families,
I would like to welcome you all to a new school year! We are excited about having your child as a part of the Echo Shaw community and we are all committed to providing the best educational opportunities possible.
My name is Laura Mannen, and I am honored to be the new principal for Echo Shaw Elementary. I have lived, taught, and raised my children in the Cornelius and Forest Grove communities for the past 27 years. I taught for several years under the exceptional leadership of Dr. Perla Rodríguez, and I will not even pretend to be able to fill her shoes. However, I know that Echo Shaw must continue to have visionary leadership because you and your students deserve nothing less, so I humbly offer my services.
Echo Shaw will continue to be a place where all students and families are welcomed and honored for their cultural and linguistic assets, and where each member of our school community is invited to cultivate their unique talents in a safe and supportive environment. I am committed to providing academic excellence for all of our students in both English and Spanish, while also encouraging them to develop their creativity and joy in learning. I also recognize that you are your children’s first and most important teachers, so I invite you to partner with our exceptional staff in the journey of developing our future leaders.

IMPORTANT DATES:
- Back-to-School Night: Tuesday, September 5th between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. This is an opportunity for you to bring in school supplies, meet your child’s teachers, and tour the school.
- Classes begin for students in 1st grade - 6th grade: Wednesday, September 6th at 8:40 am (no late start).
- Classes begin for students in Kindergarten on Thursday, September 7th at 8:40 am.
- Classes begin for students in Pre-Kindergarten on Monday, September 11th at 8:40 am.
The front entry doors will open at 8:00 am and students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Students who arrive after 8:30 am will be able to eat their breakfast in the classroom. Classes will start at 8:40 am. All students will enter through the front entry doors this year. Other exterior doors will remain locked throughout the day for security reasons. Students will be in school from 8:40 am-2:55 pm. (With the exception of Wednesdays when we start school at 9:40 am due to teachers’ Continuous Improvement Time).

¡Me gustaría darles la bienvenida a todos a un nuevo año escolar! Estamos entusiasmados de tener a su hijo/a como parte de la comunidad de Echo Shaw y todos estamos comprometidos a brindar las mejores oportunidades educativas posibles.
Mi nombre es Laura Mannen y me siento honrada de ser la nueva directora de la Escuela Primaria Echo Shaw. He vivido, enseñado y criado a mis hijos en las comunidades de Cornelius y Forest Grove durante los últimos 27 años. Enseñé durante varios años bajo el liderazgo excepcional de la Dra. Perla Rodríguez, y ni siquiera pretenderé poder llenar sus zapatos. Sin embargo, sé que Echo Shaw debe seguir teniendo un liderazgo visionario porque ustedes y sus hijos no merecen menos, así que humildemente ofrezco mis servicios.
Echo Shaw seguirá siendo un lugar donde todos los estudiantes y familias son bienvenidos y honrados por sus dones culturales y lingüísticos, y donde se invita a cada miembro de nuestra comunidad escolar a cultivar sus talentos únicos en un entorno seguro y de apoyo. FECHAS IMPORTANTES:
- Noche de regreso a clases: martes 5 de septiembre entre las 5:30 pm y las 7:00 pm. Esta es una oportunidad para que traigan los útiles escolares, conozcan a los maestros de sus hijos y hagan un recorrido para conocer la escuela.
- Inicio de clases para alumnos de 1°-6°: Miércoles 6 de septiembre a las 8:40 am (no entrada tarde).
- Inicio de clases para los alumnos de Kindergarten: Jueves 7 de septiembre a las 8:40 am.
- Inicio de clases para los alumnos de Pre-Kindergarten: Lunes 11 de septiembre a las 8:40 am.
Las puertas de la entrada principal se abrirán a las 8:00 am y los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de desayunar en la cafetería. Los estudiantes que lleguen después de las 8:30 am podrán desayunar en el salón de clases. Las clases comenzarán a las 8:40 am. Todos los estudiantes entrarán por las puertas de entrada este año. Otras puertas exteriores permanecerán cerradas durante todo el día por razones de seguridad. Los estudiantes estarán en clases de 8:40 am a 2:55 pm. (Con excepción de los miércoles cuando comenzamos clases a las 9:40 am debido al Tiempo de mejora continua de los maestros. Las puertas de la entrada principal se abrirán a las 9:00 am los miércoles.)
